Wooden breakfast boards

Nothing beats a cozy breakfast to start the day off right! Of course, you’ll need the perfect surface for your roll. A wooden breakfast board offers plenty of space, catches crumbs, and looks great, too. Since wood is naturally antibacterial, wooden cutting boards are especially hygienic and easy to clean. Sound good? Then let’s talk about your custom breakfast board. I craft these little kitchen helpers to your exact specifications and am happy to incorporate your personal preferences.

Why Choose Wooden Breakfast Boards? The Benefits

In the past, small wooden boards were a staple on many people’s breakfast tables until they were gradually replaced by porcelain plates. Unfairly so! Because wooden breakfast boards not only create a cozy atmosphere but are also very hygienic, since the tannic acid in the wood has an antibacterial effect. That’s why wooden boards are perfect for serving food.

Wooden breakfast boards—the benefits at a glance:

N

Of course: Wood is a natural raw material that radiates warmth and creates a rustic atmosphere.

N

Durable: Hardwoods, in particular, are very sturdy due to their natural properties and—unlike porcelain—barely show any scratches even with regular use.

N

Gentle on knives: Although the surface of a wooden cutting board is hard, it’s still soft enough—unlike plastic or porcelain—that the blades of your knives won’t wear down as quickly. Tip: End-grain cutting boards are especially gentle on knives.

N

Sustainable: As a renewable resource, wood is a very eco-friendly choice, especially since it is exceptionally durable when properly maintained.

N

Hygienic: Wood naturally contains tannic acid, which has antibacterial properties. This makes wood significantly more hygienic than plastic, for example.

N

Versatile: A wooden breakfast board isn’t just for serving your bread—it also makes a great serving platter or cutting board when you just want to chop up a few small items.

Which type of wood is best for breakfast boards?

Various types of wood are suitable for breakfast boards—from maple to beech and oak to walnut and padauk. Hardwoods, such as oak and walnut, stand out for their high durability and longevity. Each type of wood has different properties and a unique color, ensuring your breakfast boards will blend perfectly with your kitchen’s decor. While oak has a very rustic look and maple is exceptionally light in color, walnut stands out with its elegant, dark finish. If you’re unsure about which type of wood to choose, I’d be happy to advise you.

How do you clean wooden breakfast boards?

You can easily clean your wooden breakfast board with a damp cloth and, if necessary, use a mild dish soap. Never put wooden boards in the dishwasher, as this can damage the surface! Afterward, stand the board upright so it can dry evenly on all sides. Regular oiling, for example with white oil, protects the wood from moisture and extends the life of your breakfast board.
