Yet maple is ideal for combining with other woods to create exciting accents. Especially when paired with dark woods such as walnut, wenge, or padauk, it creates a stunning visual effect because the colors form striking contrasts.
Of course, we can also craft your maple cutting board in a single color using either long-grain or cross-grain wood. Long-grain wood features the classic grain pattern familiar from furniture and looks extremely stylish. Sustainable, locally sourced wood
Maple species are widespread in Europe, particularly the Norway maple and the sycamore maple. The wood of the sycamore maple is most commonly used in woodworking because the tree has good trunk dimensions.
Tips for Caring for a Maple Cutting Board
Compared to other types of wood, maple is somewhat more sensitive to water and, because of its very light color, is more prone to discoloration. Lemons and beets, for example, can leave permanent marks. Therefore, it’s best to use your maple cutting board for dry, non-staining foods. Otherwise, basic care for maple is the same as for other woods— clean with lukewarm water, let it air dry in an upright position, and never put it in the dishwasher. Regular re-oiling protects the surface. Since all types of wood fade quickly when exposed to sunlight, you should also protect your maple cutting board from direct sunlight (UV rays) to preserve its color for a long time.
